Creating links

You can turn any text into a link.  You can link to other web pages within your site, any webpage on the web, images, or create an e-mail link.

  1. Select the text or Image you wish to turn into a link.
  2. Press the Link toolbar button.  Here  you will see 5 options:
    1. Drafts and Recent Pages
    2. Create New Page
    3. Browse to Web page
    4. E-mail address
    5. File on my computer.
  3. Select the appropriate item.  Unless you are creating an e-mail link, you will more than likely be selecting Browse to Web page.
  4. This will bring up an Insert Link dialog box.  If you inadvertently selected the wrong type of link, you can change the type here.
    1. Browse to Web Page:
      • If you are choosing a web page within your site, use the Choose button.  This will bring up the Choose File on Website dialog box.  Select the file you want to link to and click OK.  When you are back to the Insert Link dialog box, click OK to create your link.
      • Use Browse to Web Page if you are linking to an external web page.
    2. E-mail Address:
      • Input the e-mail address you want for visitors to your site to e-mail when they click on the link.
    3. Drafts and Recent Pages:
      • Think of this as a Recent Documents listing.  It will list recent pages you have worked on as well as draft pages you are currently working on.
    4. Create New Page:
      • This will create a new page from the templates available to you. However, instead of creating a link to a new page, you should first create the new page, publish the new page, then link to the page on the server.
    5. File on My Computer:
      • Use this option if you have a document such as a PDF on your computer that you wish to link to.  This will upload the file to your website and link to it.
