Saving
Regardless of the type of computer you are using, place the files you want to be visible on the web in the www folder. The server automatically detects index.htm and index.html files and lists them online. To avoid going unnoticed, be certain to save your home page as either index.htm or index.html. Please note that this index page will the the first page visitors see when accessing your site. The following steps will assist in the creation of the www folder.
Publishing to a Mac
To save and publish to a Mac follow these steps:
- On the Finder toolbar, press Go > Connect to Server.

- If your server address is not displayed, click Browse > Vwcnet > Facultystaff. Then select your network username from the displayed list.
- Create a folder named www.
Publishing to a PC
To save and publish to a PC follow these steps:
- Go to My Computer and locate the Network Drives section.
- You will see "yourname on 'facultystaff' (H:)."

- Connect to your H drive.
- Create a folder named www.
Viewing your work
After placing your index page in the www folder, you can connect to it from any web browser by typing in the web address. A part of the web address is your network login name. For instance, if your name is John Doe the web address would be: http://facultystaff.vwc.edu/~jdoe/.
Note that the web address begins with "facultystaff", and not "www".
