JOURNAL WRITINGS 

(The instructor will give you "Due Date" information.)

1.    a) What goals have you set for yourself this semester? b) What is your plan of action to achieve these goals? Be specific.

2.    a) Name a classmate whom you met in this class. b) What do you have in common?

3.    a) Describe a positive experience you have encountered recently in this math course. b) How did it make you feel?

4.    Write a paragraph, explaining the process of "Order of Operations" that would be necessary to simplify 23 + (8  - 15 ÷ 3).

5.    a) How do you think the class is going so far? b) What do you most like about the class? c) What do you dislike about the class?

6.    a) Which math topic, thus far, do you feel you best understand? b) Which topic do you understand the least? c) What can you do to better understand the topic?

7.    a) How many hours did you study for this course this week? (Remember that practicing and completing assigned homework problems counts as studying.) b) What time of the day do you find the most success with studying? c) What is your favorite study location?

8.    Find a problem either in the book or in your notes that you mastered with success. Write down the problem in your journal and work it out.

9.    What advice would you give someone who has enrolled in this course and section for the first time?

10.    a) Summarize all that you've accomplished in this course so far. b) Have you accomplished the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the semester? c) Are you where you want to be? d) How do you plan to prepare for the final exam?

 

All journal entries must be entered in a "Little Blue Book" that may be purchased for around 25 cents at the VWC book store.
