Although most people believe that
scientists have no life outside the lab,
nothing could be further from the truth.
I am one of those people who happen to enjoy a great number of activities -
music, reading, sports, gardening, and the arts.
Top on my list of favorite things is laughter.
I just really love having a good time.

(Friendly hint to my students:
If you really don't know an answer, but you come up with
something original. You just might get a point or two if it makes
me laugh when I am grading your exam.)

One of my passions in life is sports:
Top on that list, of course, is playing VOLLEYBALL!!
Volleyball is by far my favorite sport in which to
participate. However,
one might find me on the softball field, the basketball or racquetball court,
the dance floor, or even
in the bowling alley.
As a spectator, I enjoy college basketball (GO
DUKE!!), professional hockey, professional football, and of course VWC teams.
While growing up in New Jersey, I became a fan of both football
and hockey.

Most Sundays from September to January,
you can find me in front of the television
set cheering for the New York Giants (actually, it should be the New Jersey Giants).
There are few
things in life more
exciting than watching the match
up between the New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils.
These two teams have been rivals
for years and the intensity of play
is always high when these teams
meet on the ice. GO Rangers!!

One of other passions in life is music:
As an auditioned member of the Virginia
Handbell Consort, I ring handbells three to five hours every Saturday
morning year round and perform in approximately 18 concerts per year. Over
the past 15 years, I have directed handbell choirs at four different churches in
three different states. Before being introduced to handbells, I played flute,
oboe, and bassoon.
