'Nitta' is a very fine orange cultivar. The lobes of the spathe are overlapping and the angle of the spadix helps making packing it easier than some other cultivars. It grows well and produces many suckers. The plants have a moderate resistance to anthracose. This cultivar came from the collection of Mrs. Asako Nitta of Hilo, Hawaii and was developed about 1946.(Kamenoto, 1981). |
