Uses: The fruit is an important source of carbohydrates for many of the people of the tropics.

The breadfruit played a very important part in the mutiny on the H.M.S. Bounty. Captain Blight was sent to Tathiti to collect breadfuit plants and to introduce them into the West Indies. After collecting the plants and setting sail for the New World, most of the ships crew mutinied. Bligh and some loyal crew memebers were put in a longboat. They sailed almost 4,000 miles landing in Timor. Later Bligh returned to Tihiti, collected more plants, and introduced the to Jamaica.
