      This site is an excellent source of original papers important to understanding the history of psychology.

History of Psychology Timeline

      This site provides you with a timeline that traces the history of psychology from early civilization to the present day.

Psychology Matters

      This site provide an extensive catalogue of the many applications of psychological science to everyday life.

Psych Web

      This site is a treasure house of information for undergraduate students of psychology. You will find help with careers, writing APA style papers, and conducting your research. Check it out!

ADVANCED DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY

All about Autism

       This site is sponsored by the Autism Society of America. At it, you will find comprehensive information about all aspects of the diagnosis, treatment, and recommended educational approaches for children with autism. Causal theories are also addressed at this site. Students interested in Asperger's disorder will find useful information on this page.

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Official website of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry,contains a glossary of symptoms and mental illnesses affecting teenagers)

American Academy of Pediatrics

      This site is an excellent source for obtaining brochures, fact sheets, and policy statements about a wide range of infant, child, and adolescent health and mental health issues. Of particular interest are sections on ADHD, Autism, Depression, Learning difficulties, Substance Abuse, Suicide, Terrorism and Disaster Responses, and Violence Prevention.

Attachment Theory and Research at Stony Brook

      This is a comprensive site jointly sponsored by researchers at SUNY Stony Brook and the New York Attachment Consortium. An excellent site for finding both original articles in the Bowlby/Ainsworth tradition as well as a selection of attachment measures.

Children's Defense Fund

      Site for the Children's Defense Fund, a strong advocacy group for children that annually publishes reports on the state of America's children.

Kidshealth

       Site created by the Nemours Foundation's Center for Children's Health Media. This is an excellent resource for all aspects of health related issues. Especially noteworthy are specific areas written in developmentally appropriate ways for kids, teens, and parents.

The Johnson & Johnson Pediatric Institute

      Site of the The Johnson & Johnson Pediatric Institute with brief, readable articles relating to aspects of maternal and infant pre- and post-natal health care. Particularly useful is the section entitled: Caring for you and your baby: a reference guide.

Parenting in America

       Site for the proceedings of a 1998 conference on Parenting in America held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Especially noteworthy are the articles listed under "Community Resources for Families.

The Jean Piaget Society

       Although this site is geared towards members of the Jean Piaget society, it does provide students with a brief biography of Piaget, a list of bibliographic resources, and a comprehensive list of related internet sites.

Society for Adolescent Medicine

       Official website of the Society for Adolescent Medicine, full text of position papers on a wide variety of applied issues, e.g., eating disorders, nutrition,driver education, access to firearms. Related links section provides a comprehensive alphabetical listing of alternative sites.

Virtual Faculty's 2nd Project: Lev Semonovich Vygotsky

      At this site, you will find original papers by contemporary researchers interested in Vygotsky's ideas. Links to archives of some of Vygotsky's seminal papers may also be found at this site.

Zero to Three

      (Official site of Zero to three, an organization that promotes the physical, intellectual, and Social emotional growth of infants and toddlers.) Very good section on pre- and post-natal brain development and the effects of experience on that development.

      This site contains within it many child laguage corpora as well as a program that allows for data analysis.

Narrative Psychology: Internet and Resource Guide

      An excellent site for gaining a broad understanding of what is meant by narrative psychology and to explore how the narrative approach may be used to understand how we construct our lives around stories.

      On line text for C. George Boeree's qualitative methods graduate course at Shippensburg University .

The Qualitative Research Report

      This online journal will give you a sense of the kind of work qualitative researchers produce. Numerous other sites of interest to qualitative researchers may be accessed from the journal's homepage.

Video and Audio Media in Qualitative Research

      This site provides an excellent introduction to the use of video in conducting qualitative research.

      Visit this site for information on many aspects of what you need to know about becoming a psychologist. Good source for guidance about finding psychological testing instruments.

Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct

      This site provides you with a complete copy of the Ethics Code for Psychologists that became effective on June 1, 2003.

Psychological Science Agenda

      At this site, you will find current information relevant to pursuing careers in scientific psychology. Of particular interest to seniors are a series of articles describing non-academic career paths you might wish to pursue. Additionally, you will find an excellent list of skills and knowledge that employers seek and that you are acquiring as you progress from Psychology 280 to Psychology 480.
