Center for Cognitive Studies of the Moving Image. Perhaps the only English-language organization devoted specifically to cognitive media theory...somebody please let me know if I'm wrong on this.
H-Film. An H-Net listserve devoted to all things film studies.
Jhistory. Another H-Net listserve, this time devoted to the history of journalism and mass communication.
The University Film and Video Association (UFVA). The leading academic association dealing with film/video history, theory, and production pedagogy.
American Law Sources Online. A link site for all manner of juicy info.
The Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School. As their mission statement states, "The Berkman Center's mission is to explore and understand cyberspace, its development, dynamics, norms, standards, and need or lack thereof for laws and sanctions."
Center for Digital Democracy. The CDD is an advocacy group whose mission is to prevent media conglomerates from dominating public discourse. They argue for a strong diversity of voices both nationwide and within local markets.
Cornell Law School Legal Information Institute. An excellent online law library. They have full text decisions, constitutions and codes, and lots of supporting documentation for vitually anything undergrads might need. Their U.S. Supreme Court Collection is located here.
Electronic Frontier Foundation. A legal action group on free speech and copyright issues on the internet.
Founders' Constitution: Amendment I. A spectacular place for primary sources on the first amendment.
The Freedom Forum. A great site foundation devoted to issues surrounding the first amendment and the mass media.
Internet Resources on Media Law. Expansive link site.
Thomas: Legislative Information on the Internet. The Library of Congress' official congressional legislative information portal.
U.S. Supreme Court Official Site. ...duh...
Adbusters. A Vancouver-based group dedicated to debunking the untruths of corporate advertising and public relations.
Commercial Alert. A watchdog group covering commercialism issues. Always interesting and disturbing headlines.
The Commercial Closet. An online collection of print and television advertisements with homosexual themes, both positive and negative portrayals...very interesting, and a good research source.
The Media Education Foundation. MEF produces documentaries on media/culture issues. They're very interesting...but also very expensive.
